Probably the most successful composition by Bracquemond. Executed in 1852, the etching immediately established the artist's fame since having been displayed at the International show in Paris in 1855. For the present edition by Cadart in the third annual set of Eaux-Fortes Modernes, the artist added the new dated 1865.
With the editor's blind stamp in the bottom margin.
