Rita Ackermann

Rita Ackermann is a Hungarian-American artist whose work merges figuration and abstraction, often exploring themes of identity, memory, and transformation. Born in Budapest in 1968, Ackermann moved to New York in the early 1990s. Her early works often depicted young girls in provocative, surreal settings, drawing inspiration from fashion, punk culture, and European art history.

Ackermann has exhibited internationally at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Ludwig Museum in Budapest. Her studio practice has remained relevant for over three decades.
